Eli Vance has a problem. When someone asks him a real question - the kind that actually wants an answer - the truth comes out of his mouth whether he chooses it or not. He can't explain it. He can't stop it. He's been managing it alone for months.

One by one, six teenagers find their way to each other in the small town of Harlow - each carrying something they've never told anyone, each a little too aware that the world is watching. What they don't know is that the watching is intentional. That their abilities aren't accidents. That somewhere on the ridge above the town, a single amber lamp burns every night at the perimeter of a building that doesn't appear on any map.

When Eli is taken, the other five have one guide who may not be telling them everything, abilities they're still learning to trust, and each other.
