Brett Clancy, a high-ranking executive in the Big Tech industry, is preparing to attend his family's Election Day reunion dinner in his conservative hometown. With him is his activist girlfriend Tracy, who shares Brett's liberal views and is eager to make a good impression on his red state kin. However, as soon as they arrive, tensions flare up between Brett and his father Ned, who is running for mayor of the small town.
