Police Intelligence

Police intelligence is a subset of a broader category called criminal intelligence. Other institutions, such as the Public Ministry, the Municipal Security or Social Defense Department, universities, and government-related research agencies, can also develop criminal intelligence. It is important to emphasize that while investigation inherently focuses on providing the means to repress crimes that have already occurred, criminal intelligence assists in both preventive and repressive actions against crime. Criminal intelligence involves gathering information and producing knowledge by establishing correlations between illegal activities or situations that immediately or potentially influence them, thereby identifying patterns and crime trends in a given context.
