Meet Stephen Langston. Not long ago he was a proud young black man full of hope and promise, but his dignity, integrity, and self-respect were lost to the ravages of a crack addiction. Shortly before Langston's release, a deer hunting expedition in the deep southern woods ended with his brother's suspected killer and three other men violently murdered. Afterwards, his father mysteriously vanished; unheard and unseen since.
Broken, hurt, and despairing, Langston's journey takes him to Chicago's South Side to live with his aunt, where he was determined to redeem himself into the man he once was. Barely unpacked, Langston and his aunt stumbled upon a fighting dog that was more dead than alive.
Both torn and damaged misfits, the strange canine and Langston are thrust onto a dangerous path of recovery and redemption that will test them beyond all limits.
