Unaware she's carrying incriminating microfiche hidden in her borrowed purse, an innocent female CIA office worker is about to be kidnapped by the KGB, according to intercepted intelligence. During September 1986, CIA officials are searching for the mole compromising the agency's network of Soviet-bloc agents. To throw suspicion elsewhere, the mole or his handler arranges for someone else to plant partially real information about counter-spies on Lisa Fairchild, who has just flown from BWI Airport to New Orleans.
