One Summer in Bee City

A violent murder sets in motion supernatural forces that intersect with human struggles. In 1967, a door to another dimension opens when César Gaspard, a labor organizer for Tejano and Mexican farm workers, is brutally beaten and lynched following a violent labor strike. As he hangs from the noose, César vows to avenge his death. Mescalito, the ancient spirit of peyote who moves between dimension, answers his prayers with the help of a 150-year-old Mexican cowboy spirit who sets in motion an intricate web of unrelated events, including a boycott that ultimately lead to the hanging tree where César achieves the revenge he sought.

Paul and David leave San Francisco during the Summer of Love, while at the same time, a man is murdered in Bee City. Their goal is to travel to Bee City, Texas, to counsel young men to fight the draft, but instead discover a different kind of war being waged-a war on brown skin. The two young men join the local Tejano workers in their fight for equality and decent wages, and, with the help of supernatural forces, succeed in the struggle.
