Old Wounds

Dayọ̀ had been bitten once by Lady Luck in relationships. She wasn't about to get bitten twice and would love to retain her humanity in the process. Apart from her closest friend, Debby, who knew about her ordeal with Ayọ̀, she made sure none of her family members was in the know. She could not bring herself to disappoint her parents who had placed her on a pedestal because even though she was the last born in the family, Dayọ̀ was the most brilliant and became a highly respected university professor at a young age.

Her chance-meet with Sọlá and the events following almost had her convinced that maybe she would have a shot at being happy and in a relationship at the same time. Keeping secrets from her friends and family and her smart mouth may, however, put her in the direct line of sight of Lady Luck and her wicked teeth once again though...

Sọlá had gained the coveted status of an old bachelor. Unlike his younger brothers, their parent's ill-fated marriage had left a dent in his psyche and he'd rather do life alone than go through what his father did. The only thing that relatively resembled domestication in his life was having to take on the responsibility of being a father and mother to his deceased younger sister's son, Ọlá. In his humble opinion, that was about all he could handle where relationships are concerned. He was more than fulfilled being the boss of a business conglomerate and taking care of his son.

The problem though is that he could not bring himself to forget the dark-skinned lady with wide innocent eyes who helped him with Ọlá when he went to go claim him from the hospital where his sister died in childbirth at Akure. That interaction had left him wondering and hoping for more for the first time in his life. Finding Dayọ̀ and rekindling what they started in Akure a year later is, however, proving a lot more difficult than he anticipated.

Can these two put their past behind them, find a common ground, and build a future together? Will Dayọ̀'s 'childish-lastborn' mentality mesh with Sọlá's 'mature-firstborn-know-it-all' mentality?
