Here's the thing that keeps me up at night: we've gotten so dependent on electricity that most folks don't even know how people lived just 100 years ago. Half of these solutions use simple technology that requires no external power source-things like hand-crank grain mills and gravity-fed water filters. The other half use absolutely no technology at all, just natural principles that humans figured out thousands of years ago and that still work perfectly today.

You're not going to find any fluff in here. I'm not going to waste your time explaining why the grid might fail or walking you through obvious steps. Every chapter dives straight into the practical details of building and using one specific solution. I'll tell you what materials you need, where to get them, what mistakes to avoid (because I've made plenty of them), and how to know if you're doing it right.

Some of these projects you can complete in an afternoon. Others might take a weekend or two. A few of the bigger ones, like a root cellar, are serious undertakings that require real work. But here's what they all have in common: once they're built, they work. They don't need maintenance. They don't need updates. They don't need electricity.
