A big fluffy dog. An even bigger bark. And a little girl who loves her just the way she is.
Nilla comes home from the farm and grows...and grows...and grows! But her size isn't the only thing getting bigger. Her booming bark soon has family, friends, and neighbors saying, "NO NO NILLA!"
What they don't understand is that Nilla has an important job: protecting the people she loves. When her good intentions leave her feeling misunderstood, can her little girl help her feel loved just as she is?
Inspired by Barbara Gibbs's real Great Pyrenees, No No Nilla: Tails of the Misunderstood Great Pyrenees is a sweet, gently funny picture book about looking beyond someone's behavior, understanding differences, and finding the love behind a very loud bark.
This newly illustrated reissue brings the original story to life with warm, painterly artwork and a consistent character design throughout. Readers can also meet the real Nilla through her photograph and a short biography.
With playful repetition and a reassuring message of acceptance, No No Nilla invites young animal lovers to join in during storytime-and reminds us that being loved doesn't mean being perfect.
She may not be the quietest dog, but she just might be the best dog for her little girl.
