Little Bear finds a bright red ball and instantly claims it. "Mine!" he says, holding it tight. He bounces it, rolls it, and chases it all by himself. When Bunny hops over and asks to play, Little Bear says no. When Puppy runs up with a wagging tail, Little Bear says no again. The ball is his, and his alone.
At first, playing by himself feels good. But soon the bouncing doesn't seem as fun. The quiet feels too quiet. Little Bear watches Bunny and Puppy laughing and playing together, and a lonely feeling starts to grow. The big red ball suddenly feels heavy in his arms.
With a little courage, Little Bear takes a step forward and offers to share. What happens next shows him something wonderful: one ball can bring much more joy when friends play together.
