Nepantla Divina: Reclamation and Resistance in Xicana Flor y Canto is an art and ekphrastic poetry anthology that features the powerful artwork of 58 artists paired with 58 poets exploring Xicanisma, Arte, Cultura, y Palabra.
From the Foreword by Charlene Villaseñor Black: Nepantla Divina: Reclamation and Resistance in Xicana Flor y Canto, curated by Dulce Stein and edited by Brenda Vaca, presents a moving expression of Chicana feminist decolonial love. In a series of 58 paired poems and images, writers and visual artists center women's voices and experiences, valorize Indigenous cultures, challenge patriarchal harm and misogyny, and envision hope for the future. The collection takes up the work of decolonizing - bringing
historical wrongs to light, fighting against injustice, and healing the community. The authors' and artists' voices and visions - at times fi erce, tender confrontational, celebratory, introspective - reveal a world made right, a Chicana decolonial vision of a more just future."
