1798. Having defeated Austria, France now turns her attention to victory over Britain. While Britain’s Admiral Nelson has France’s General Bonaparte trapped in Egypt, the Empires of Austria and Russia strike back.
Lieutenant Colonel André Jobert must raise a regiment of Italian cavalry. The new Cisalpine Chasseurs à Cheval consist of idealists awake to the novel idea of the Italian peoples united and Austrian veterans resentful of their defeat by France. As the avalanche of disciplined legions from Austria and Russia grind across Lombardy, Jobert struggles against divided allegiances to face the threat.
Neither Up Nor Down is Jobert’s fourth adventure as the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars rage across Europe. Will Jobert’s Italian horsemen stand firm against a triumphant enemy at the critical battle of Marengo?
