Paul Anthony has survived multiple suicide attempts, the last one causing him to be resuscitated, intubated, and put in an induced coma.
Paul has a brain injury, permanent nerve damage to his arm and has overcome severe pressure injuries to his leg. He was told he may not work or study again. Through determination, therapy and changing his mindset, he has gone from constantly not wanting to be alive to wanting to live.
He struggles some days because his short-term memory and concentration are limited, and he finds it hard to retain new information. He will have to live with this for the rest of his life. Paul is alive, and he is alive for a reason.
Through mental health peer work, Paul has been sharing his lived experience based on recovery to help others navigate their way through their darkest times.
