Nicolette Evergreen has been called every word in the book-except for nice. Her latest scheme has her holed up in her remote cabin deep in the woods, far from the mess she's left behind and the past she's always been trying to outrun.

As Christmas draws near, she's utterly alone. The seemingly wholesome family she once cherished is shattered, and her childhood home now serves as a grim reminder of lost joy and the ghosts of Christmas past. With a brutal blizzard closing in, she plans to ride out the storm, cut off from the world, and remain hidden in the icy silence.

That is, until she comes face-to-face with a monster hellbent on claiming her. The same creature from the childhood tales, the one parents warn their misbehaving children about-the one she's come to find in her darkest of dreams.

But the stories of the Christmas Demon don't quite add up-his whips and chains inflict a different kind of pain, and even as the winter storm rages outside, he stirs a heat inside her that will burn her alive if she's not careful. But now, Nicolette's not sure she wants to escape or if she wants to watch herself burn.
