Fifteen-year-old Erik-Vincent Novak preferred a quiet life on his family farm with his extended family, but his best friend, Everett Norris, felt Erik needed more out of life and proceeded to secure him a blind date for their upcoming Homecoming Dance.

Armed with the girl's phone number, Erik-Vincent reluctantly texted the stranger only to set off a series of strange, wonderful, and seemingly fate-driven events.

Fascinated by their first exchange, Erik-Vincent quickly dismissed the girl Everett had chosen and dedicated himself to learning everything he could about "AC" instead.

At first, "EN" was intended to be a means of escape from her oppressive home life, so Amalia Saunders wasn't stressed about the security measures her friend placed on her phone to keep her hidden from unknown numbers and the potential dangers associated with them. Taking advantage of the anonymity she'd been given, Mal spent the next two years chatting with a boy who would dig his way into her heart.
