Maturing In Faith

The church at Corinth had problems. Real ones. They were divided over personalities, tolerating sin that even the surrounding culture found shocking, confused about spiritual gifts, and using their freedom in Christ as a license rather than a calling. They had the gospel. They had the Spirit. And they were still a mess.

Sound familiar?

Paul did not write them off. He sat down and wrote them a letter - one of the longest and most direct letters in the New Testament - and worked through every issue with the care of a father who refuses to give up on his children. Maturing in Faith walks through that letter from beginning to end.

This book grew out of eighteen sermons preached through 1 Corinthians. It is written as a study companion - something you can read on your own, work through with a small group, or return to when you need a clear, grounded look at what it means to grow up in Christ. Discussion questions at the end of each chapter push the content past information and into real reflection.

Paul's letter is about the gap between where the church is and where it is called to be. It is also about the love that refuses to let that gap be the last word.

That message has not lost any of its urgency.
