Lounging with Strange is a poetry collection about recognizing how bizarre the denizens of the universe could be and kicking back with those folks, not treating them as either monsters or saviors. Sometimes we might hang out, other times we might have to keep our distance. It's about mutual respect. As a species steeped in speciest rhetoric and intraspecies hatred, these poems are also about how much humans need to evolve spiritually and socially before we can wrap our heads and hearts around exoplanetarians. I don't think we're the pinnacle of evolution, no matter how many fairy tales we tell ourselves, and that will be a hard pill to swallow.
The tone of this work ranges from somber to funny to frightening, just like life. Divided into Exoplanet Soiree, Supernatural Social Club, Humanitas Transcendens, and Cosmic Jests, the poems explore the imagined realms beyond our understanding, but maybe, just maybe, we'll catch a glimpse behind the curtain.
