To bring these principles to life, I share personal stories that reveal the depth of my struggles. From the suffocating grip of a chokehold while trying to prevent a fight to the terror of a runaway horse colliding with traffic, my experiences are raw and real. I recount the heartache of losing my father, the trials of infertility, betrayal by friends, and the isolation I felt in post-Communist Berlin. Most profoundly, I discuss the challenges of raising a child with violent aggression, which led to his separation from our family.
