The stories:

Kicchomu-san is the great wit-hero of Oita, in northeastern Kyushu - quick, cheerful, and dangerously literal-minded. His tales belong to the 頓智話 (wit-tale) tradition, and both of these run on the same engine: the comedy of someone who is technically right.

• Kicchomu's Big Rock - Kicchomu has a large, useless rock in his field that he can't move. So instead, he lets the village believe it might be hiding something.
• Kicchomu and the Rice Cake Owner - A shopkeeper twists the word "everything" to claim Kicchomu's horse is part of the bargain. Kicchomu looks cheated - until that evening, when he asks one carefully ambiguous question of his own.
