Leadership and Management of Policy Ideas

Leadership and Management of Policy Ideas: Turning Crazy Wisdom into Effective Programs underscores the importance of idea generation, curation, and implementation across organizations. The book recognizes the lack of conceptual capital currency in many organizations and offers readers the knowledge they need to inspire ideation and transform winning ideas into effective policies.

The book is organized into three parts. Part 1 addresses the nature and components of ideas and policy. Part 2 then examines the common hurdles that obstruct the progression of good ideas into effective policy. The final part offers practical tools and methodologies for overseeing the evolution from idea to policy, underscoring the necessity for competent leadership and management in guiding this process. An appendix provides some policy vignettes for classroom or team discussion.

Designed to assist students, practitioners, and scholars of public policy, organizational leadership, and management, Leadership and Management of Policy Ideas posits that idea management is fundamental to organizational success. The textbook is ideal for policy analysis, strategic management, and organizational behavior courses.
