In-Between

In-Between is a collection of eight original one-act plays set in the liminal space between life and death. Thereby, each play enters at a different threshold moment with different circumstances, where time loosens, perspectives shift, and all that has been avoided, carried, or left unspoken begins to surface. Crash / Kill confronts the lead with the impossible decision on whether to hit and kill another person, or swerve and sacrifice themselves. Both Ninety Seven Beats and Quarterlife Check-Up explore the seconds before a person's fatal cardiac arrest. In In-Between, life and death go hand in hand. Joey and Jace shows twin siblings just before being born, just as Teddy Bears and Scented Candles examines the interaction between two souls just before moving into their next incarnation. The characters meet in places that feel both familiar and unknown, navigating memory, connection, and the quiet forces that shape who we are.

Written with a focus on rhythm, presence, and emotional precision, these plays are designed to be performed as much as they are meant to be read. The language is intentionally spare and character-driven, allowing the work to unfold through interaction and authenticity rather than explanation. The plays are gender-neutral and flexible in casting, inviting a wide range of performers to step into these spaces and make them their own.

In-Between explores themes of identity, transition, grief, personal power, and transformation, while remaining grounded in human relationships and experiences.

This collection is both an exploration of liminal space and a series of intimate encounters: moments suspended between what was, what is, and what might still become.
