In this book, Pastor Art Sims discusses the Gospel of the Grace of God and issues that conflict with it. God's gift of eternal salvation can only be received by Grace through faith. It cannot be received through discipleship or any other system of human merit. The time when Jesus was here on earth was unique with unbearable pressures ahead for his followers. They didn't know it, but he did, that his arrest, trial and crucifixion would be more than they could bear. Matthew states that "they all forsook him and fled." Jesus was very upfront about it, showing that following him fully would be more than his followers could expect fulfill. In this book it is shown that trying to apply that as how to be saved is a great mistake. Lesser levels, or kinds of discipleship are important, with lessons to appreciate in considering each one. Christians today need to understand the kind of discipleship that can be, and should be, true of us in our daily lives.
