Garrett Wilson didn't expect to make Cole County his home when he signed up to compete at Boulder Ranch last rodeo season. When offered a position and place to live at a neighboring ranch, Garrett decided it was the perfect place to land after spending time traveling the rodeo circuit.

Morgan Berkely felt safe for the first time in years. After leaving her abusive ex-husband, she moved to Cole County for a fresh start, and found the friendships and community she was unable to have during her marriage.


When Morgan's ex shows up at the rodeo, shattering her sense of safety, Garrett sees the fear in her eyes and is compelled to protect her. That includes keeping an eye on her after she reluctantly moves into the cabin next to his. A bad storm forces them together, and the friendship they had begun to form turns into more. Afraid that her ex will cause problems for the people she cares about, especially Garrett, Morgan runs.

Heartbroken, Garrett sets out to ensure Morgan never has to feel unsafe again before hunting her down to bring her back home.
