Wu Han, a renowned historian and social activist in China, is one of the pioneers and founders of modern Ming history research. He has successively served as a professor of Yunnan University, Southwest United University, Tsinghua University, and an academic member of the Institute of History of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
He devoted his entire life to the study of ancient history, particularly in the field of Ming history. Many of his published articles have caused a sensation in the Chinese academic community and are still regarded as a standard by scholars in later generations.
His works include ""Biography of Zhu Yuanzhang"", ""Notes on Reading History"", ""Brief Introduction to Ming History"", ""Mirror of History"", etc.
The article ""The Plum in the Golden Vase"" caused a sensation in the academic community as soon as it was published, when Wu Han was only 25 years old!
吴晗，中国著名历史学家、社会活动家，现代明史研究的开拓者和奠基者之一。曾先后任云南大学、西南联合大学、清华大学教授，中国科学院历史研究所学术委员等。

他毕生致力于古代史研究，尤精于明史，发表的多篇文章均在中国史学界引起轰动，至今仍被后世学者奉为圭臬。

著作有《朱元璋传》《读史札记》《明史简述》《历史的镜子》等。

本书《金瓶梅》一文一经发表即引起学界轰动，此时吴晗仅有25岁！。
