When professional NHL goalie Ellis Karlsson shares a steamy night with rinkside reporter Monica Rose, neither expects it to lead to a life-changing surprise: a baby on the way. Bound by more than just their professional ties to the Minnesota Grizzlies, Ellis and Monica must navigate an unexpected pregnancy, living with one another, and the possibility of something more.

As they work together to prepare for parenthood, Ellis is also searching for the sibling he lost touch with in a Swedish orphanage, a ghost from his past he can't quite let go. Monica, meanwhile, is learning how to untangle herself from a childhood where she was forced to grow up too fast, raising her younger sister like a daughter and building walls so high that no one has successfully knocked down, until now.

Both are fiercely independent, both guarded by wounds that never fully healed, and both are terrified of falling for someone who could break their heart.
