Ghost grew up here - not because he wanted to, but because the world outside the block never opened its doors for him. He learned early that survival wasn't about strength, but about silence. About knowing when to move and when to disappear. About understanding that every shadow hides a threat, and every threat hides a lesson.

He wasn't always called Ghost. Back then, he was just a kid named Malik - skinny, fast, sharp‑eyed, always watching, always listening. His mother worked double shifts, his father was a rumor, and the streets were the only thing that stayed consistent. Malik learned the block's rhythm the way other kids learned multiplication tables. He memorized the faces, the danger zones, the safe alleys, the hours when trouble rose like heat from the pavement.

But the moment everything changed - the moment Malik became Ghost - was the night the block took someone he loved.

It was late. Too late for kids to be outside, but Malik wasn't a kid anymore. Not after what he saw. Not after what he survived. He and his best friend, Trell, were cutting through the alley behind the corner store, laughing about something stupid - something small, something innocent. The kind of laugh you only get before life teaches you how expensive joy is.

Then the car rolled up. Slow. Silent. Tinted windows hiding the faces inside.

Trell froze. Malik didn't. He grabbed Trell's arm, pulled him back, whispered, "Don't look." But Trell did. And the block made its choice.

The gunshot cracked the night open. Trell fell. Malik screamed. And the block swallowed the sound like it was hungry.

From that night on, Malik wasn't Malik. He was Ghost - the kid who survived. The kid who disappeared. The kid who walked through the block like a shadow that refused to die.

Years passed. Ghost grew taller, stronger, quieter. He learned to move without being seen, to listen without reacting, to watch without blinking. People whispered his name - not out of fear, but out of respect. Ghost wasn't a threat. He was a reminder. A symbol of what the block could do to you and what you had to become to survive it.

But Ghost didn't want respect. He wanted peace. And peace was the one thing the block never gave freely.

So he left.

Not dramatically. Not with a goodbye. He just walked away one morning, heading toward a future he didn't understand but needed to believe in. He found work, found distance, found silence. For a while, he even found sleep.

But the block... The block doesn't let go.

It started with a phone call. A voice he hadn't heard in years. A warning. A plea. A reminder that the past wasn't finished with him.

Then came the second call. Then the third. Then the message that made Ghost stop breathing for a moment:

"They asking about you."

Ghost knew what that meant. Someone was stirring up old memories. Someone was digging into old wounds. Someone was rewriting the story of Trell's death - and Ghost couldn't let that happen.

Because Trell wasn't just a friend. He was the last piece of Ghost's childhood. The last piece of Malik.

So Ghost returned.

Not because he wanted to. Not because he missed the block. But because unfinished stories have a way of dragging you back to the place where they started.
