Football is widely supported around the world. Where ever the game is played, fans are at the heart of the game. Every year around the globe, football is played by more than 200 million people in more than 200 countries. Few of these games would be possible without the fans and also the legions of backroom staff who together with the supporters make such a valuable contribution to the sport.
It's reckoned about 3.5 billion fans attend football matches each year. This makes football the most popular spectator sport in the world. It is well recognised that the supporters contribute to the performance of their particular team. Having great support is often compared to having an extra player, the so called twelfth man.
But it should be remembered that the backroom staff also play an important part in the success of any football team. Few teams would exist for long without all the endeavour and hard work from these unsung heroes.
