Daniel is forty-three, recently separated, and quietly burning out at the Melbourne clinic he helped build. He changes his flight home from Europe on impulse. Two weeks in Bangkok. A rooftop bar. A man who orders the wrong drink and makes him laugh for the first time in longer than he can account for.

Jamie is thirty-two, Malaysian, and living a carefully managed double life in Kuala Lumpur - in a country where being gay is not just socially complicated, but legally dangerous. Bangkok is supposed to be a holiday. It isn't.

What follows is a story of distance and decision: long-distance calls across time zones, spontaneous flights to Bali, parallel coming-out journeys on opposite sides of the world, and the slow accumulation of a choice neither of them knows how to make. When Jamie finally arrives in Melbourne, they begin building something real - new friends, a shared life, a visa application that costs almost as much in anxiety as it does in dollars.
