False teachers of God's word are rampant in our day. Many distort God's word, do teachings for greed sake, take advantage of people who are not studying God's word, and are leading many astray from God's ways. In this book we look at what the New Testament has to say in several key passages on the topic about who they are, what they are like, and what they seek to do. We also consider when to use the label false teacher or heretic, and when we should avoid those terms. God's word gives us the good news of Jesus, which good teachers and pastors, and the people of God, have a responsibility to guard (see Titus 1 and Jude). God's shepherds must also look out for the people of God, his sheep, and protect them from the wolves in this world: false teachers.
