Also, thyroid dysfunction during the brain maturation not only may cause histological and functional alterations, but also may disrupt interneuronalconnections and neuronal integration. ● Administrations of methimazole (MMI) and exogenous thyroxine (T4) to mothers may cause a number of injurious anomalies in the development of their newborns and may lead to a pathophysiological state.
