What if you could choose the child you wanted?

Los Angeles, 2037.

Medicine has conquered diseases once considered untreatable. Electric and hydrogen vehicles dominate the roads, artificial intelligence has become part of everyday life, and genetic science has transformed human reproduction. For the wealthy, having a healthy child is no longer enough. They want beautiful children. Intelligent children. Athletic children. Children designed to possess every possible advantage. At the centre of this new world stands Genesis, the flagship division of Genova Life Sciences and one of the most successful biotechnology companies on Earth.

Its promise is irresistible.

Give Your Child Every Advantage.

For more than twenty years, Genesis has allowed wealthy clients to select desirable genetic profiles for their future children. Behind the glamorous advertising and immaculate clinics, however, the company's most valuable genetic material is disappearing. Genesis has found a solution. And people are dying because of it.

Twenty-four-year-old Sam McCarthy knows nothing about the secret world of genetic engineering when his mother, Sarah, agrees to become a surrogate for Genesis. Three days before the birth, she is rushed into the company's private medical facility. She never comes home. Genesis insists her death was an unforeseeable medical tragedy. Sam doesn't believe them. Neither does his eighty-five-year-old grandfather, Glen Steavenson, a retired special-operations veteran who has spent decades trying to leave violence behind.

When Sam breaks into Genesis and discovers evidence of malformed children, dead surrogates, missing scientists and a classified program called Genetic Continuation, his search for the truth becomes a fight for survival.

Genesis wants its secrets back.

Corrupt detectives want the money Genesis is offering.

Professional killers want Sam.

And Glen discovers that the skills he hoped never to use again may be the only thing standing between his grandson and death.

Hunted through Los Angeles and forced into hiding, Sam must uncover what Genesis has been doing before everyone who knows the truth disappears.

But beneath the conspiracy lies a far greater question.

If science can select beauty, intelligence and physical ability, can it really create a better human being?

Or are the qualities that make us truly human the very things that can never be engineered?
