Amina Ali did everything right.

She earned her degrees, stayed focused amidst all the chaos, and kept her head down when it would've been easier to fold. Now she's back in Amberline Heights, a city just outside of Washington D.C, where culture and success intertwine.
She has a vision for her life, and it does not include distractions. She's always excelled to earn her keep in every space she steps into.

But the reality of where she is now is different than what she imagined.
She lands a job most people would kill for, only to find herself navigating microaggressions from colleagues who don't look like her, don't think like her, and initially don't accept her. She's dealing with that while still trying to stay motivated.
