DECIMALS RESCUE

Decimals are just fractions written with place value - but children who learn them as rules about moving dots make the same mistakes again and again. Decimals Rescue teaches decimals as sizes a child can see, so the rules finally make sense.

This picture-led workbook for children ages 9-11 (Grades 4-5) shows every idea on a hundred grid, a number line, a measuring tape or with real money before introducing the rule. A child who can picture 0.3 as three tenths of a bar will never think 0.25 is bigger than 0.3.

Twins Ada and Rafi measure long jumps, add up relay times and count change at the snack stand.
