Following a worse 9/11 and subsequent terror attacks, the theocratic New America Party steadily rose to power, cementing its hold over the U.S. in 2012, after a devastating four-year Second Civil War. Now, after five years of official peace, the regime has launched a new campaign of violence and repression, targeting all real or suspected opponents--and opening the door to a new round of open conflict for the future of America.

Forced from her hometown of New Antioch, Iowa, and hunted by one of the NAP's deadliest operatives, Amelia Weir finds herself on the frontlines of this burgeoning new war. Alongside her mentor Richard Henley, she takes shelter in the Rockies, amongst the rebel groups still battling the NAP regime. Here she encounters new allies and friends, while continuing to train and learn, preparing for the day she can avenge herself, her family, and her home. Amidst this, she also seeks to unravel the enigma that is Henley, and his true motives and aims.

Before long, with Henley's guidance, Amelia gets her chance to take part in covert operations against the NAP. In so doing, she delves deeper into her mentor's world, bringing a glimpse of the secrets he holds--and the realization that the greatest threat to her, and the country, may be far closer to home...
