The abbreviation MOOC stands for 'Massive Open Online Courses', a new e-learning format that has revolutionised and reshaped university education and continuing professional development over the past four years. Meanwhile, companies face the challenge of coping with the new demands of the 21st-century workplace and the implications of the digital revolution. This book therefore examines the question of the extent to which the MOOC - originally a university-based learning format - in its various forms, might be suitable for in-company continuing professional development. Drawing on practical examples from organisations, the challenges and opportunities presented by this new learning format are discussed and weighed up.
