For most of her life, Cindy existed only behind locked doors.

It began with a sister's gymnastics leotard and the simple, wordless relief of fabric pulled tight. The feeling never left. It waited through secondary school, university, marriage, and the arrival of children - surfacing only in empty houses, borrowed clothes, and the rare hours when no one was expected home.
