This adventure of Song HO and Big Daddy is an epic fairy tale and love story about correcting wrongs and fulfilling one's life course by facing the monstrous hatred in one's own heart. Forty year old Laotian born Song Ho, living in the U.S. most of her life accidentally discovers the identity of her parent's killer from 35 years prior. Little does she know that Fuk Lo Tran, the killer, is a were-tiger with buddies. She is also unaware that she herself is a were-tiger and Queen of the Jungle. An entire range of mountains and valleys alert themselves when she returns. A daughter's love is challenged by man and man eating tigers in a story that captures the spirit of Laos in regard to it's jungle and urban legends alike. Delany writes as if he were there, as if he lived and breathed it, which is a testament to the imaginative craft of a word smith who is something of a throwback, which makes his work contemporary to any place or time.
