Case Closed, Just Beginning - Level 0 is for the very beginning reader: a child who knows their letters and letter sounds, but hasn't read a word yet and for the parent, who's never taught a child to read before. 

DET and CW are equals in every case - one following what can be seen, the other sensing what's just out of view - and together they follow the evidence wherever it leads: a hat found by the fence that might not fit, something small and pink uncovered in the yard, a bag that needs zipping shut, a pot that bubbles over on the stove, and a dog that joins the jog through the woods.

Nothing is solved for you.

Volume One introduced five word families - -AT, -IN, -AD, -AP, and -AN. Volume Two picks up right where it left off with five more - -IT, -IG, -IP, -OT, and -OG - plus a growing set of sight words your child will recognize by heart. Each new volume builds on the last, so every case is a little more within reach.

Each case builds phonics skills one word family at a time, with sight-word and vocabulary pages woven in - designed to be read alongside a grown-up, with DET and CW investigating side by side with the child, not ahead of them.
