Cain and Abel

From the get-go, the purveyed worldview was and perhaps still is that Adam was Cain's biological father. Of course, the mother of both sons, Eve, did not enjoy favorable commentary from scholars of the Old Testament. Scholars like Tertullian lashed out at Eve and essentially women in general as the conduit of the devil.
