Borrowed magic the Second

In the old times magic ruled the world. I guess it still does in some ways but now humans have magic. Before humans had magic, people suffered, and angels ruled everything. Humans were suffering but innocent. Until a human found new magic. But that is an old story. The new story starts 900 years ago when the angels are debating what to do about the new human magic population. An Angelic Mage named Tye Lee was crafting a unique type of magic. Cursed magic. It attached a spell to a human permanently. Changing their biology. Their soul itself. Tye Lee channelled her new spell into a human King. She yelled "I curse you to be a dog. Sit… @#$%&". And despite his profanity's and screaming for guards, nothing happened. Until the full moon when he turned into a beast like no other. An intelligent, hungry K9 out to destroy everything. That is until the moon fell. Impressed, they made Tye Lee a Lord Mage. And so, came a new method of keeping humans scared and weak. Until a human mage returned the favour. Angels thought themselves immune to such a power for magic dwelled within them. They thought very, very wrong. Humans developed specific curses that could be used on angels. With time the cursed became thought of as lesser beings. But a century ago, three members of the Reeper family had an idea. Cursed were being subjected not only to great injustice. But they were still powerful. The three Reeper sisters travelled the world gathering the hair of the most powerful cursed. They met back in Perth castle and placed the hair in a borrowed artefact made from crystal that fell from the heavens. One of the sisters became… The Cursed Lantern. The Cursed Lantern ran across Perth and helped cursed whenever and however they could. Under the light of the moon. It became one of the few bedtime stories that didn't paint cursed as the monsters as the sisters originally intended.  In the present we look at the current user of the cursed lantern. Ethos Reeper. Just a week ago the entire of Australia gathered together to forge a binding contract that said they couldn't wage war on each other. It didn't work and a brawl ensued. Maggi (Ethos's sister) Ava (the daughter of an Angelic lord) and Ethos ran away to get back home.
