Between the Lines & Loss

There was more to my story than two lines and loss. There was the between.

"The wand she wields doesn't grant wishes.

At least not for me.

Not this time.

She waved it once, twice, and three times to be sure.

The image she conjures teaching me a new lesson:

The passing of magical tests in your own home,

Guarantees you nothing."

In August 2022, I found out I was pregnant for the first time. By the end of my first trimester, I was diagnosed with a complete molar pregnancy. I had to have a D & C procedure to ensure that all of the cells were removed so nothing metastasized and turned into an aggressive type of cancer-a word I never expected to hear connected to pregnancy.

Since losing my pregnancy, I have worked tirelessly to document the raw and real emotions that this life event caused. I found out early that there wasn't much when I initially started looking for poetry or content related to my loss in the book world. The poetry was cathartic at first, but I soon realized I had a higher purpose here. I had a poetry collection to share. I hope that these words validate your own path and help you feel less alone. The only people who truly know how this feels are the ones who have endured it.

My note of caution, this book is heavy. I did not sugarcoat my feelings or experience. If you are not in a place mentally to handle talking about it, consider how reading about these experiences could affect you. I want to share the journey with women who know. I assure you there are lighter and happier moments sprinkled throughout, but at the end of the day, this book is about grief and loss. I wish you all the best friends.
