Benji Wright and the Moon Eye of Horus follows the adventures of twelve-year-old Benji, his twin sister Lucy, and their archaeologist parents as they uncover an ancient mystery that leads them on a thrilling journey through Egyptian mythology. Benji's life seems relatively ordinary, albeit with archaeologist parents who specialize in Egyptology. The real excitement comes with the family's full-moon tradition, where Cleo, a mysterious family friend, always visits. Cleo never ages, teaches the kids hieroglyphs, and appears to be hiding something.
When Cleo fails to show up on a full moon night, Benji and Lucy discover the shocking truth: Cleo is Queen Cleopatra herself, who has been alive for over two thousand years. Their parents reveal that Cleopatra has been guarding an ancient artifact, the Moon Eye of Horus, which holds the power to control the balance of the world. But Cleo has been kidnapped by Dr. Garbanzo, a notorious archaeological thief, who plans to misuse the Moon Eye to gain godlike powers and bring chaos to the world.
The Wright family, along with Cleopatra's servant Khafre, travel to ancient Egypt through a magical vortex to save Cleopatra. Along the way, they are given powerful artifacts known as the Five Jewels of the Nile, which grant them magical abilities to aid in their mission. They face countless challenges, including navigating an upside-down pyramid, solving ancient riddles, and battling Garbanzo's army.
With the help of the magical Jewels and the guidance of Mighty Sahara, Benji and his family rescue Cleopatra. As the final battle between Cleopatra and Garbanzo unfolds, the god Horus is awakened, and the stolen Moon Eye is restored to him, ensuring balance is maintained. In a triumphant victory, Dr. Garbanzo is crushed-literally-and Cleopatra's reign continues. The story concludes with a grand celebration and the marriage of Horus and Mighty Sahara.
Despite returning home, Benji realizes that his adventures are far from over, as Cleopatra promises to keep visiting them every full moon, hinting at more magical journeys to come.
