This collection features over one hundred short poems inspired by traditional Japanese poetry forms, including haiku, tanka, and chōka. Sixteen poems appeared in previous collections; the rest are new and written for this collection.

Joe's regular poetry is in free verse and is based on stream of consciousness. It explores love, metaphysics, and social justice. In contrast, his haiku and tanka are inherently structured, aiming to capture fleeting moments rich in beauty and meaning. Each poem invites meditation on life's transience, the beauty of nature, compassion, essence, and mindfulness.
