An Intimate Portrait of R. L. S.

"An Intimate Portrait of R. L. S." is a poignant and personal account of the life of Robert Louis Stevenson, written by his stepson and frequent collaborator, Lloyd Osbourne. Drawing from years of shared experiences and a close-knit family bond, Osbourne provides a unique perspective on the man behind such classics as "Treasure Island" and "Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde".

The narrative captures Stevenson's vibrant personality, his resilience in the face of chronic illness, and his adventurous spirit as he traveled from the streets of Europe to the shores of Samoa. Osbourne offers firsthand insights into Stevenson's creative process and his daily life, painting a picture of a writer deeply committed to his art and beloved by those around him. This memoir is more than a historical record; it is a heartfelt tribute that illuminates the private character of one of the nineteenth century's most enduring literary figures. Readers will find a wealth of anecdotes and reflections that bring the legendary author to life, making it a valuable addition to the library of any Stevenson enthusiast or scholar of Victorian letters.
