A MAN FROM AN INVERTED TIME is a metaphysical and historical novel that follows one consciousness as it is reborn across seven key moments in 7,000 years of Sudanese history. From the priests of Kush, to Mahdist warriors, to exiles in modern Cairo, the protagonist carries the same wound: the fracture between homeland and self.
Structured in seven parts, each era reflects the same theme through a different lens: the struggle between order and chaos, memory and erasure, belonging and exile. The narrative moves non-linearly, like time itself, with dreams, archives, and myths bleeding into each other.
At its core, the novel is about Sudan as both a real place and an idea - a land that keeps repeating its tragedies because it refuses to remember. The final section brings the soul to the present, where the protagonist must decide whether to break the cycle or become part of it.
This is a novel about history as a living body, and about literature as the only way to resurrect what politics tries to bury.
