Post-Historical Discourse

This book scrutinizes the provenance, theoretical frameworks, viewpoints, processes, and methods of postmodern historiography, along with its impact on the study of history. It also delves into a series of topics associated with postmodern historiography, such as the pursuit of historical veracity, the narrative of history, and the rise of new cultural histories. The main objective is to comprehend the essence of the postmodern movement and its effects on historical scholarship, investigating whether it can foster the development of a new historiographical wave in addition to deconstructing the modern approach. Furthermore, the book contemplates whether the Chinese historical academic community, under the enlightenment of postmodern historiography, can reassess the traditional Chinese historiography that has been supplanted by Western modern historiography, and if this could contribute to the advancement of current historical studies. With a prospective gaze on the global tendencies in historiography, there is a hope that the history of China will assume a significant role within these trends.
