Egypt has recently experienced events that have placed it on the threshold of democratic transition. Media outlets of various ownership types and with different orientations of their owners have reacted to these events. This book aims to monitor and analyze the relationship between media ownership, democratic practice, and political decision-making. It does so by examining the impact of media ownership patterns on how these outlets address issues of democratic transition, and to what extent media outlets tend to address these issues from a political-economic perspective that serves the interests of their owners. It also attempts to identify the ownership structure that has influenced the laws related to democratic transition issues issued by political decision-makers, based on its vision, demands, and approach to these issues. Finally, it identifies the most prominent obstacles that may hinder democratic transition in Egypt. In addition, the book monitors a large number of vital issues, including, for example: the contemporary reality of media ownership patterns and democratic practice: globally and locally, presenting global and local models in this regard, the relationship between the media and political decision-making, and the problems of the relationship between them, with the presentation of an applied study concerned with this matter, and proposing a model on the relationship between the media - with its various ownership patterns - and the process of democratic transition, and the requirements of this relationship and its general conditions... all of this within the time frame specified for the book.
