This book deals with the biography of the famous French Queen Marie Antoinette, written by the prominent Austrian writer Stefan Zweig, who is considered one of the literary figures of the twentieth century. He rose to fame thanks to his diverse literary talent. He wrote novels, plays, and poetry, and gained wide recognition. His works were translated into more than fifty languages, earning him the title "e;Austrian Dostoyevsky."e;Zweig offers a nuanced, analytical vision of the character of Marie Antoinette, whose biography continues to inspire writers, historians, and filmmakers. Marie Antoinette, born in Vienna in 1755 AD, was the daughter of the Austrian Empress and married the Crown Prince of France, who later became King Louis XVI. She was famous for her elegance and luxurious life inside the Palace of Versailles, but at the same time she sparked controversy because of her disregard for the suffering of the French people. With the outbreak of the French Revolution, Marie Antoinette became a symbol of tyranny and irresponsible luxury, which ultimately led to her execution by guillotine in 1793 AD. In this work, Zweig presents a comprehensive biography of the queen, from her upbringing in the Austrian court until her tragic fall in France. In his sober and entertaining style, he sheds light on aspects of her personal and political life, showcasing the contradictions that characterized her career as a queen who lived at the height of luxury, but fell victim to the major social and political changes of her time.
