Kalila and Dimna

"e;...Then the chamberlain (the chamberlain) entered to the king (Dabishlim) at the right time, and said: At the door is a Brahmin man called Bidba. He mentioned that he had advice for the king, so he gave him permission, so he entered and stood before him and declared disbelief (i.e., he lowered his head out of respect for him). And he was silent. Dabishlim thought about the silence of the philosopher, and said: The wise are richer than the kings in knowledge, and the kings are not richer than the wise in money. I have found knowledge and modesty to be two inseparable halves, and when one is lost, the other does not exist. Whoever does not feel ashamed of the wise, honor them, recognize their virtue, and protect them from situations of humiliation, is among those whose reason is deprived, loses his worldly life, oppresses the rights of the wise, and is counted among the ignorant."e; What was the advice of the wise philosopher Bidba to the king?! Ibn al-Muqaffa, the author of Kalila and Dimna, alerted us to what his author was aiming for when he said: "e;The one looking at this book of ours should not aim to browse through its adornments, but rather supervise the proverbs it contains until he finishes it and stops at every proverb and word and works on it."e; .. He also warned us: "e;Whoever reads this book and does not understand what is in it, and does not know its apparent and hidden purpose, will not benefit from what appeared to him in terms of its writing and inscription"e;!
