Interview with President Custer

In the fall of 1926, a young newspaper reporter, Ethan Thorne, lands the assignment of a lifetime: to interview the aging former President, George Armstrong Custer. As the 50th anniversary of his election approaches, Custer has finally agreed to an extended, multi-day interview for a planned series of articles. Custer is an imposing character, who appears to bask in his legendary status, still maintains a commanding presence. He tells grand tales of his time at West Point and his military career and his actions in the Native-American Wars (some good, some not). His voice is strong, but his hands tell a different story as he repeatedly fumbles his pipe. He reflects on his "e;misreported death"e; at the Battle of the Little Bighorn, his rise to the presidency, and his life afterwards. Along the way, Ethan must keep Custer from getting off track while trying to get the story of the man behind the myths. President Custer's legacy is complicated, just like the man.
